Our Purpose
Parents know what is best for their children and should have the option to choose which school and learning environment is best for them and their educational needs. Public education is not one size fits all. Students and families deserve safe, high-quality public school options. TN Parents for Public School Options is a coalition open to all parents and education advocates in Tennessee who are passionate about ensuring ALL students have access to great public education options.
Public Charters Work!
Tennessee’s 115 public charter schools are free and open to all. Demand is rising quickly. Not every student learns the same, and charter schools have more flexibility to create a culture that improves student performance and parent satisfaction. Public charter schools also have the flexibility for hiring teachers, developing personalized learning plans, and using technology in new ways to meet students where they are in their educational journey.

Students at charter schools across Tennessee receive the equivalent of over a month and a half of extra teaching in reading and math - according to a recent study from Stanford University's Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO). Parent Priorities
Parents are the best advocates for their children, and their voices are essential to informing a quality public school system. To better understand and reflect parents' opinions and concerns—and how they continue to evolve over time—TN Parents for Public School Options conducts an annual survey to explore how parents feel about the state’s public education landscape.
Advocacy in Action
Too many kids are stuck in failing schools their entire K-12 careers. We support policies that can help break this cycle and give parents the option to choose a public school option that is best for their child. TN Parents for Public School Options coordinates with parent groups and education advocates from across the state to share policy priorities and encourage state leaders to support public education options for all students.
